The Extra Man is a 2010 comedy film based on a novel by Jonathan Ames. The film is directed and written by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. It stars Kevin Kline, Paul Dano, Katie Holmes and John C. Reilly.

Plot: A failed playwright, Henry Harrison, develops an odd mentor relationship with a Louis Ives, a troubled, cross-dressing, aspiring writer to whom Henry sublets a room in his New York apartment. Henry teaches Louis the art of being an “extra man,” accompanying and entertaining wealthy older women in their fanciful social lives. Along the way, Louis encounters an environmentally conscious co-worker, Mary Powell, and a jealous, eccentric neighbor, Gershon.

Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore (known simply as Cats & Dogs 2) is an upcoming family film directed by Brad Peyton.

Plot: Kitty Galore, a hairless Sphynx cat, is fed up with dogs and her fellow cat comrades, so she decides to take over the world and enslave the humans. Diggs, a German Shepherd police dog, and his mentor, Butch, are selected by the Dogs HQ spy force to stop her. Having no other option to stop Kitty Galore, the cats join forces with the dogs with additional support from a pigeon to block Galore’s evil scheme. Meanwhile, Kitty Galore gains the aid of the mice (One of them is also seen as her pet) and the main antagonist from the first film, Mr. Tinkles. Cats and dogs must now work together to save the world, and their humans.

Dinner for Schmucks is an upcoming comedy film, and a remake of the 1998 French film The Dinner Game (”Le Dner de Cons”, an adaptation of the long-lasting eponymous Francis Veber play) The film was directed by Jay Roach, written by David Guion and Michael Handelman, and starring Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, who last teamed up on Anchorman and The 40 Year-Old Virgin. It is scheduled to be released on July 30, 2010.

Plot: Tim (Rudd) is a rising executive who “succeeds” in finding the perfect guest, IRS employee Barry (Carell), for his boss’s monthly event. A so-called “dinner for idiots”, the gathering offers certain advantages to the executive who shows up with the biggest buffoon.

The story is of Charlie St. Cloud’s choice between keeping a promise he made to his brother, who died in a car accident, or going after the girl he loves.

Plot: Charlie St. Cloud (Zac Efron) survives a car accident that takes the life of his younger brother, Sam. Before the accident, Charlie made a promise to Sam to practice baseball with him every day until he left for college. After the funeral, Charlie is able to see the spirit of his brother, who reminds him of the promise.

Salt is an upcoming American action thriller film directed by Phillip Noyce, written by Kurt Wimmer and Brian Helgeland, and starring Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, accused of being a KGB sleeper agent, on the run to try to clear her name. While Tom Cruise was initially secured for the lead, he was unable to commit to the role because of commitments to other projects, and the script was ultimately rewritten for Jolie.

Plot: CIA agent Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) goes on the run to try to clear her name after being accused by a defector of being a KGB sleeper agent plotting to assassinate the President of the United States.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is an upcoming 2010 fantasy adventure film produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Jon Turteltaub, stars Nicolas Cage, and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, the team behind the National Treasure franchise. The story, although totally different, is said to have been loosely based on the Sorcerer’s Apprentice segment in Disney’s Fantasia, which in turn is based on the late 1890s symphonic poem by Paul Dukas and 1797 Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ballad.

Plot: Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar can’t do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protg. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and these unlikely partners will work together to stop the forces of darkness.

The Kids Are All Right is a 2010 comedy film directed by Lisa Cholodenko who together with Stuart Blumberg wrote the screenplay. The story centers on a lesbian couple, Jules (Julianne Moore) and Nic (Annette Bening), the mothers of two children conceived by means of artificial insemination.

Production: Cholodenko and Blumberg began outlining the script in late 2004. The project was helped to get off the ground by the caliber of actors who agreed to join, first Julianne Moore, followed by Mark Ruffalo and Annette Bening. Cholodenko stated, “People really admired what Stuart and I got on the page but there was a fear factor regarding how the film was going to make money, as the subject matter is tricky.” The film nearly got the green light in 2006, but Cholodenko postponed the project after she became pregnant by way of an anonymous sperm donor. After giving birth, she resumed work to secure financing, eventually winning a $5 million budget from three major investors, including the French distributor UGC.
